19 Nov Our Guide To The Digital Handshake
How to grant R J Francis & Co access to your Income Record Viewer
When you’re working with us to manage your tax affairs, there may be times when we ask you to grant us access to your Income Record Viewer. This secure HMRC facility allows us to view your PAYE history, tax codes, employment records, and more. Having access to this information helps us give you more accurate advice, deal with tax queries quickly, and ensure nothing important gets missed. We call this the digital handshake.
Many clients assume they can simply add us through their Personal Tax Account, but the process is different for the Income Record Viewer. HMRC requires a specific digital authorisation, which we initiate by sending you a personalised link. That’s why we call it a digital handshake — it’s a two-way process that starts with us.
To make this as straightforward as possible, we’ve created a step-by-step fact sheet that outlines everything you need to do once you receive the link. There’s no need to go hunting through your account settings or navigating confusing menus. The fact sheet walks you through logging in, confirming your identity, and granting permission in just a few clicks.
Once you authorise access, we’ll be able to see key information such as:
- PAYE income for the current and previous four tax years
- Your latest tax code and any deductions
- Student loan repayments through payroll
- Employment and pension details
- Any underpaid tax or other debts collected through PAYE
If you get stuck at any point, or you’re not sure whether your authorisation has worked, we’re always happy to help. Just get in touch and we can check whether access has been granted, resend the link, or guide you through the login steps.
